COVID-19 has undoubtedly influenced many of our food-related decisions, for better or for worse. How to shop, what goods to keep in the house, and how to get in and out of stores rapidly became the focus of our attention.
What Has Changed in People’s Habits?
It’s understandable that Americans want to return to “normalcy,” whatever that means to each of us. According to the IFIC poll, 85 percent of participants said COVID changed their eating and food preparation habits in 2020, but that number has plummeted to 72 percent this year.
Purchasing Food
The general reasons for why we buy the foods we do haven’t changed significantly, according to IFIC: Taste continues to be the most significant criterion (82%) followed by price (66%), healthfulness (58%), convenience (52%), and environmental sustainability (52%). (31 percent ). It’s crucial to know what you’re buying (68 percent), especially at a time when so much was uncertain.
